Hi Parents!
This week we have been learning to measure using nonstandard units. We used cubes and paper clips to measure various objects. This is something your child can easily practice from home! Please make sure your child completes their math homework every Wednesday night and returns it to school on Thursday. Thank you for your help! Have a wonderful weekend! Mrs. Carroll Hey Parents!
Please remember that field trip money is due by November 18. We will visiting The Green Room to see The Nutty Nutcracker. The cost of the trip is $8. Also, please remember to sign report card envelopes and send them back to school. Thank you! Mrs. Carroll We had so much fun learning about pumpkins this week! We learned the different parts of a pumpkin, the life cycle of a pumpkin, and we tasted pumpkin treats. The students also had a wonderful time learning about animals and pumpkins at Red Wolf Farm on Thursday.

This week we learned about community helpers. We learned what community helpers are and discussed the different types of community helpers. We have been working on 10's and 1's in math. Your child should know that a two digit number is made up of 10's and 1's. Please make sure field trip money is sent in soon! We will be visiting Red Wolf Farm on October 23! Have a great weekend! Thank you so much for getting your child into the habit of doing homework each week! Please remember to make sure your child is reading every night. I will finish up assessments next week. At that time, I will send home books that are on your child's level. These books will go home on Monday and need to be returned to school on Friday. We learned how to skip count this week! We had a fantastic second week of school! This week we started working on adding numbers to find the sum. Your child should be able to define the words sum and addends for you. Your child should also be able to tell you what the commutative property is. We will continue to work on addition and memorizing math facts throughout the year. We will begin sending home homework next week. Please see your child's daily folder for information about homework in first grade. Please remember to send in t-shirt money as soon as you can!
